Gift card holders

Recently I went looking for a holder to give a gift card in and  couldn't find any so I decided to make them . There was a pattern on Pininterest that started me of, http://carolynshomework.blogspot.com/2010/12/inkling-gift-card-holder.html
I used old manilla folders that were being thrown away and favorite wrapping paper from a recent party.

To tie them I used ribbon . The hardest thing was the gluing of the edges so I ended up sewing them on my machine .

Olivia Fairy Party

So the party is over. We had a lovely time even with the rain changing our plans.
Along the driveway were the  decorated  8 posts that my son had found.
We had 3 different colors of ribbon to attach to each

Next  was a large poster that Olivias Mum Emma had made of her  favorite  drawings

We had 2 gazebos set up to give access to the party room.
We couldn't put up the curtains as we had planned ( see previous post) but we just added  lots  more of the ribbons and flowers around .I think it worked just as well .
I made the fabric roses, the buntings and  fairy wands.

Inside the room we had aprox 50 balloons suspended from the ceiling which gave a lovely party feel,
They were put up by a team effort and  the girls loved been taken thru them.

Due to the weather the mushroom stools got put in the party room and the girls enjoyed their tea party on them

Lily and  Olivia  looked lovely in their outfits. They had felt wings domed to the back of their suits and I had made felt flowers to decorate them.
I also had spare roses that could be domed to their suits if they wanted to take the wings of .I was very pleased with the effect. I  also had  bells hanging  of pieces of ribbon  because of a poem that I had found

"If one can hear the sound of bells tinkling or branches rustling when the winds are still,or wings beating when there are no birds about, that means a fairy is in the vicinity. "
Their suits had 3 hearts appliqued on  and  their skirts were 4 layers of lilac and  white soft tulle . Olivia loved her  ring of flowers on her head.

I also made crowns out of felt with the flowers on them , my niece Kaylee fell in love with them and  took them home.

On the buffet table we had beef, lasagna , potato bake and salads. For the kids (and  big kids) there was corn tartlets, little sausages and of course fairy bread
For the desert table we had the birthday cake , Cassie made a yoghurt cake ,Emma made banana bread as it is a favorite of the birthday girl We also had  pink and  green jelly cups and fairy cakes . I think it was a good spread

Overall we had a great time with family and  friends . I loved the preparation we did and the fact that a lot of what we did was from recycled material.Thank you also Cassie for the photos.
We are looking forward to planning next years party.

Post note : looking back at this post 3 years  later I still remember the pleasure this family had giving Olivia a very special family event , Love you Olivia from Granny

Party Bags

Well the party boxes are finished .
The fairy dolls are from a pattern called Felicity the  fairy but we are changing her name to Flo.
The Elfs are yet to be named
I made  6 faeries and  3 elves, I sewed the clothes to the dolls to make them safe . I did not add the shoes which were to  be  painted on and as the dolls are for 1 years old so it was  decided no shoes as they might suck on them  Their wings are are embroidered which I loved doing

There is a heart on the back made from my dear Dads shirt so he is with his grand children ,miss you Dad

Olivias First Birthday Fairy Party

Olivia's Birthday party is coming up fast . We finally got the mushroom stools finished . They are made from  old paint tins topped with a  timber circle  and  then a padded top.
Her Mum then did the painting . So now we have a mushroom circle

Next we had a trial run of the desert gazebo We are using curtain from around the house. I made the fabric roses & bunting . We had chosen 3 colours light pink , green and  liac as the party colours

I found the idea from the internet
http://www.girlygirlbirthdayparties.com/2011/01/cornish-fairy-party.html.

We then decorated some sticks that my son found to act has signs for where the party is. We first had balloons  on them but they popped  so now we are going to put more fluffy stuff on them , 8 in total as we have a long driveway
We are really looking forward to this party and have enjoyed all the preparation .

Look forward to posting more photos on the day
